6-04-2012 – Pheriche – Rest Day

Altitude: 4240m
Atmospheric Pressure: 630mbar
Temperature: 6DegC

Adrian and the guides have agreed to give us 1 hour extra sleep this morning as it’s a rest day.
We wake up to 15Cm of snow on the ground which meant my plan of doing some washing was somewhat compromised.
However, soon the sun comes out and melts all of the snow and I manage to do the washing and have a shave.

Nothing to do all day, so I decided to walk to the top of the ridge overlooking the village, only a 100m ascent, but rewarded with nice views of the village and the surrounding mountains.

In the evening debrief, Adrian pointed out “Enjoy your last night in a bed for a while, as from Lobuche onwards, we’re in tents”. The good news is though, that from now, we will have a tent each, so we get our privacy back.
Personally, I didn’t mind, as it’s a good way to get to know people and how they behave. This can be important for later on, on the mountain, to choose a sensible tent mate (no snoring, organized, easy going and strong mentally).
